While India has been recording 20,000 new Covid-19 cases on an average and the Covid-19 graph seems to be plateauing, the challenge has not ended yet, said Lav Agarwal, joint secretary of Union health ministry, on Thursday.

From Tuesday, the union finance ministry will hold pre-budget meetings with several departments to finalise their FY22 revised estimate (RE) and FY23 budget estimate (BE)

Soccer-Australian FA will probe allegations of abuse in women’s game

Football Australia say they will investigate any allegations of abuse in the women’s game after recently retired international striker Lisa De Vanna said she had been the victim of sexual assault, harassment, and bullying during her career. De Vanna made her initial allegations in response to a Tweet by Megan Rapinoe when the United States international commented on the allegations of misconduct against former North Carolina Courage head coach Paul Riley.

Pawan Gupta, a block pramukh leader of Lakhimpur Kheri, spoke to India Today TV about the violent clashes on Sunday that led to 8 deaths and said that he felt he would not come out of it alive.

Pawan Gupta was seen in the black Scorpio car in one of the viral videos of the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. He has said that around 12 pm on Sunday, he was moving to Banvirpur for the dangal when the car was stopped by the farmers who were protesting with black flags.

Pawan Gupta said there were thousands of protesters on the road and the glass of the vehicle was also damaged during the agitation.

“I crossed the area about 2 hours before the incident and even then, there was a massive crowd on the road. As seen in the video, my black Scorpio was surrounded by the people,” Pawan Gupta told India Today TV.

He added, “I thought since it was my area, I can talk to the people, but as soon as I tried to come out of the car, slogans of ‘BJP Murdabad’ were raised and my car was attacked.”

Gupta then recollected, “They were all carrying sticks and hitting the car. If I had stayed there any longer, I would not have survived the day.”
