On Monday, a high-level delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) met with Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to discuss areas where the CII and the State Government can collaborate to make Tamil Nadu a $1 trillion economy by 2030.
The delegation was led by C.K. Ranganathan, chairman of the CII’s Southern Region. He stated that the government should prioritise defence and aerospace, as well as future technology companies, start-ups, and fintech, in order to spur investment and job creation.
The delegation proposed that the government develop a focused agenda for future start-ups and tech firms. It also urged the Chief Minister to develop a dedicated policy for creating a conducive environment.It also urged the Chief Minister to develop a policy focused on creating an environment conducive to investment in emerging technologies, start-ups, and fintech.
Mr. Ranganathan emphasised the importance of promoting the Defence Industrial Corridor, which would benefit the state’s micro, small, and medium-sized businesses. More investment in defence manufacturing would aid in the development of these units’ competitiveness. He stated that the CII was working on a report on the opportunities for defence industries in the state.
S. Chandrakumar, Chairman, CII, Tamil Nadu, highlighted the CII’s initiatives in the state and praised the Chief Minister for his efforts to promote industrial development, such as the establishment of industrial parks in Tier II and Tier III cities, information technology parks, and road and highway development.
