Ignatius Navil Noronha, the chief executive officer of Avenue Supermarts Ltd, which operates DMart retail stores, has seen his fortune grow to more than a billion dollars as the retail firm’s shares have increased by an astounding 113 percent this year. The stock hit a new record high of 5,899 on the BSE and gained as much as 10.7 percent in intraday trading, pushing its market capitalization past 3.54 trillion. At 10 a.m., the scrip was up 2% to $5,431 per share. The stock has been trading higher for seven consecutive sessions, gaining nearly 40% during that time.
