Redheads on India

The United States’ declaration of a trilateral “increased security alliance” combining Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States (AUKUS) caught everyone off guard, both competitors and allies. India has taken an ambivalent stance on the issue, while having close partners on both sides. Since then, there has been a lot of discussion about how this is a positive step for India in terms of accessing technologies, building complementarities, and so on. While it gives potential, AUKUS is also a threshold breach that could pose distinct issues for India, depending on how China responds and the issue spiralling out of control.
